Who we are
MakeThisNext is made and run by Wes Frank. It tells a YouTube creator which video to make next. This page says what it keeps about you, why, for how long, and how to take it back. Write to hey@wesfrank.com about anything on it.
What we keep
- The early-access list: your email address, and your channel if you add it, to tell you when MakeThisNext opens. Take it off the list any time with the form at the foot of the home page.
- Your account, once accounts open: your email address, your password (kept only as a hash, which cannot be turned back into it), and the channel you set up.
- Your channel's public data: the titles, publish dates, lengths, thumbnails and public view, like and comment counts of your videos, and the same for other public channels in your niche, read from YouTube through YouTube API Services. The counts are read again every day and kept as a daily history, so the app can see how a video's views grew.
- Your YouTube Studio reports, only if you connect them: views by day, where viewers came from and what they searched for, for your channel alone and read-only, and the Google token that lets the app read them.
- What you type or upload in the app: ideas you have checked, titles you chose, thumbnail directions and reference images.
- Technical records: one session cookie after you sign in, and server logs with the address a request came from, kept for a short time to keep the service running and safe.
What we do with it
One thing: work out which video your channel should make next, and everything around that: the score of each idea, the views to expect, titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnail images, and afterwards a check of how the video did. We do not sell your data, we show you no advertising, and we use your data for nothing else.
YouTube API Services
MakeThisNext uses YouTube API Services to read YouTube data. By using it you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- What is read: public data about your channel and its videos, and about other public channels in your niche, as listed above. If you connect YouTube Studio, the YouTube Analytics reports of your own channel, read-only. Nothing is uploaded, edited, published or commented on through the API.
- How it is used: to make the recommendations, estimates and texts described above. Public view counts are shown as YouTube reports them. The scores, the multiples against a channel's usual views and the estimates are the app's own reading, and the app says so.
- How long it is kept: public statistics are refreshed every day and kept as a daily history while your account exists. Your Studio reports are refreshed at least every 30 days or deleted, and they are deleted, with the token, when you disconnect Studio or delete your account.
- Who else sees it: nobody, apart from the services that process it for us, listed below. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to train AI models.
- How to revoke it: disconnect YouTube Studio under Settings in the app, which deletes the token and your reports, or remove MakeThisNext's access on the Google security settings page. Deleting your account deletes all of it.
The services that process it
- Railway hosts the app and its database, in the United States.
- Google serves the YouTube data, through YouTube API Services.
- Anthropic and OpenAI receive video titles, public descriptions and thumbnail images, to write the titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnail images the app makes for you. Under their API terms, neither trains its models on what is sent this way.
One script from another site runs on these pages: our own visitor counter, at traffic.wesfrank.com. For each page you open it sends the page’s address without its query string, the site you came from and any campaign tag in the link. To count each visitor once a day, it turns the IP address and browser details, mixed with a random value that changes daily, into a one-way code. The random value is deleted after its day and the codes within two days, so visits can’t be linked across days. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and keeps only totals. No advertising service runs on these pages.
Cookies
One: the cookie that keeps you signed in, for 30 days, set when you sign in and removed when you sign out. Looking at the site sets none. There are no third-party cookies.
How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: until you delete the account.
- Your address on the early-access list: until MakeThisNext opens, or until you take it off.
- Your Studio reports and the Google token: as above, and gone when you disconnect.
- Server logs: about 30 days.
What you can ask
To see, correct, export or delete what we hold about you, write to hey@wesfrank.com, and it is done within 30 days. Once accounts open you can delete your own under Settings. A deleted account is removed from the app's database at once, and from its backups as they turn over.
Children
MakeThisNext is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly keep data about them.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that matters to what we keep about you is sent to the address on your account before it takes effect.
